Sunny Skye’s is owned and operated by Skye Bond, an extremely qualified, experienced and award winning swim teacher. Skye is committed to bringing out the best in all her students, no matter how challenging. By combining her passion for water safety with a no nonsense approach, results are guaranteed.

By taking a personalised approach to teaching we can ensure that everyone learns to swim with ease and confidence at their own pace. We ensure results when parents commit to our very successful teaching approach. We pride ourselves in being an ABILITY based swim school; therefore we do not HOLD children back on age. Skye tailors her program to the individual needs of each child, you will get the personal touch and experience that you’re looking for. Children are taught to handle real life situations in a real life environment. Water safety and ensuring young swimmers are panic proof is our number one priority.

Sunny Skye’s teaches swimmers of all ages and levels, babies from six months, non-swimmers, safety classes, stroke correction adult and squad training. She has been involved with coaching up to Bronze level and has worked under Gold Level Olympic and Ironman coaches since becoming a qualified instructor.

Skye offers her students the comfort of a heated pool all year round and a comfortable viewing.

Students of Sunny Skye’s are taught to be prepared for the unknown and will learn how to respond safely to many different situations. This will carry through to our extension programs for those aged 4 years old to Adult.

We also specialise in accommodating multiple birth families.

Miss Skye

Owner and Operator, Qualified Teacher of Swimming, Teacher of Disabilities, Salt Water Aquatics Instructor & Pool Lifeguard

Owner and operator, Skye Bond is an active Gold Coaster. She has been involved with swim coaching at all levels under the mentorship of current, successful Australian Olympic coaches. Skye has been teaching swimming for 30 years and has a love of children, swimming and the beach. Skye also has become a Director on the board Swim Australia QLD and has won numerous national awards for her contribution to teaching. With her knowledge and passion, she has now become a presenter on specific Aquatic safety methods, her swim school follow and travelled overseas to work with Singapore and Zambia.

Skye is extremely active in Surf Lifesaving for over 43 years and has achieved state, national and world titles.

Skye is in the water every day, teaching across all ages and levels depending on her student’s ability. Skye prides herself on personally tailoring a program for every child’s individual needs, ensuring your child develops a strong swimming competency in and around ALL AQUATIC ENVIROMENTS.

Through her teaching, Skye ensures a focus on stroke enhancement and confidence in the water.

Equipping everyone, from babies to adults, with the skills and confidence to be as safe as possible around water is what drives Skye’s passion to teach.

Mr Anthony

Business Manager, Qualified Teacher of Swimming, Squad Coach & Pool Lifeguard

Anthony joined the Sunny Skyes family in late 2025 as the Business Manager.

Within his role, he takes pride in ensuring that we have open and effective communication with our families through various channels, handles enrolments / scheduling, staffing / rosters, school programs, oversees the general running of the business and makes sure everything is running seamlessly behind the scenes. He is in the office Full Time – Monday to Friday, overseeing the day-to-day tasks and the broader planning for the business.

You will also catch Anthony in the pool where his almost ten years of experience really shines through to his teaching style. He is a fun and engaging teacher who the kids adore!

Miss Illy

Operations Manager, Qualified Teacher of Swimming, Teacher of Disabilities, Salt Water Aquatics Instructor & Pool Lifeguard

Miss Illy started her journey here at Sunny Skye’s in July 2020. Along with her long list of qualifications, Illy brings a light-hearted fun charisma to not only our work environment, but to all her classes. Since moving to the Gold Coast Illy has become involved in Surf Life Saving at Tallebudgera Surf Club where she is an Age Manager and active patrolling member.

Miss Illy has been in the industry for over 20 years and has a wealth of knowledge at her fingertips. You will find her in the pool throughout the week teaching every ability level from little ones to squad to adults. It is Miss Illy’s personal unique approach that sees so many of her students thrive in their sessions.

Jess

Administrator Assistant

Jess is our Administration Assistant, working very closely with Anthony on a part-time basis helping to keep the business running smoothly behind the scenes. She is responsible for everything accounts & HR – invoicing, payroll, family charges and fees, staff onboarding and management as well as assisting with all new enquiries and general communication with our current families. Jess works hard behind the scenes to make sure everyone’s experience with us is a positive one.

Dani

Reception Manager

Dani is our Reception Manager and is the friendly and welcoming face of our Burleigh Hub.

Greeting all our families with her warm and friendly demeanour, handing out hundreds of stamps per day and making sure our Swim School families feel cared for, informed and comfortable in our space. Dani assists our Administration team behind the scenes and provides invaluable support to all our staff members. When she isn’t making sure our inventory is stocked, our facility is clean or our teachers don’t need anything, you will catch her reading a story to one of our many cute kiddies that swim with us!

SWIM INSTRUCTORS:

Coach Rob

Qualified Teacher of Swimming, Squad Coach & Pool Lifeguard

An accomplished swimming coach with over 10 years of coaching and teaching experience across the UK and Dubai, specialising in swimmer development from learn-to-swim through to competitive performance. As a Development Swimming Coach with Hamilton Aquatics in Dubai, Rob designed and delivered structured progressive coaching programmes to varying squads, ranging from age group swimmers to international athletes.

As a former competitive swimmer for City of Manchester Aquatics, Rob won five British National medals and qualified for the 2020 Olympic Trials, bringing first-hand experience of high-performance sport to his coaching. He is passionate about creating positive, inclusive training environments, mentoring swimmers to achieve their full potential as athletes, and leading programmes that promote excellence, healthy competition, and a lifelong love of swimming.

Miss Eliza

Qualified Teacher of Swimming & Pool Lifeguard

Miss Eliza began her journey at Sunny Skye’s as a client, bringing her three kids to Miss Skye when they were only babies at the start of 2017. Now, she is one of our most experienced teachers and brings a wealth of knowledge to our Sunny Skyes family. Her caring nature, kindness and relatability to the kids makes her one of our most sought-after teachers. She has an incredibly nurturing but firm approach.

Miss Eliza is qualified to teach all abilities of swimming – from babies to squad age children.
